Hello all,

I have an existing S7-315 CPU running a project written in STL using Simatic suite. The CPU is connected to a series of ET200 outstations using Profibus.

My intention is to add a S7-1215 as a retrofit to the existing machine. I would like to read 2 words that exist in data blocks in the S7-315. My project for the S7-1215 will be created in TIA Portal v13.

By adding a Profinet module to the 315 CPU, what is the cleanest, most simple way to read the 2 words in DB's from the 315 into the 1215 with the least intrusion possible to the Simatic project. I do not need to write anything back into the 315.

Hello nick;

You can always use a S7 connction over Profinet, and program a GET function in the S7-1200.

You would not have to program anything in the S7-300.
