Using SINAMICS DCM instead of DCM Control Module

The Motor ratings were in the range of 400kW to 600kW and Non siemens Thyristor stacks have been used in the power section. However the surprising thing is that instead of using SINAMICS DCM Control module, they have installed basic 25A SINAMICS DCM Drives for control. 6RA80 18-6DV62-0AA0 ( 25A ) I was curious to find out, how this has been achieved ( The Mill is in operation ). However no proper drawings were available However I have clicked a picture of the visible wiring part of the drive.There was no other visible wiring. ( Attached ) Can anyone pl clarify how Std 25Amp drive can be used to fire large external Thyristor stacks and what potential risks does this involve ? Vijay There is no other controller !!! The 25A SINAMICS DCM has been adapted to fire a set external FIeld Control Thyristors and and a large External Armature control Stack. I must say, this is quite innovative BUT AGAINST ALL NORMS AND RECOMMENDATIONS !! I understand that there are many such installation ( All supplied from China ) Cheers Navnag

But only when you carefully make the adaptation of armature current feedback. I.e. you must test current/voltage from current transformers installed in power section (400-600kW) and adapt it to that current/voltage that is required for DCM 12kW (30A). I have tried this once with my more experienced collegue using Simoreg a long time ago, got many problems with high inductivity of large motors, which could not be recognized by Simoreg during auto or manual optimization.
