Using Step 7 Basic V11 to create 10.5 (FW1.x) projects

I have a few 10.5 programs already delivered and operational. I unfortunately cannot shut them down and update/upgrade the firmware to 2.0, update/upgrade the software to V11, and perform testing to verify nothing bad happens. Will V11 allow me to compile as 10.5 and download to 1.x firmware PLCs? I have a project which will be starting very soon. What timeframe should the SUS update be expected now that it officially released? If I upgrade, will I lose the ability to log on and communicate with the existing projects? Suggestions welcome as I do not want to upgrade and lose the ability toupdate any process problems with existing projects using 10.5 SP2.

Alfa Posts: 24 Rating: (1)	I have same problem and what i "know" now i think V11.0 is totally new program. So we have ability to install both programs V10.5 and V11.0 on our laptop. Then we can use V10.5 "old projects" and V11.0 new projects. So there should be no problems to modify old projects. Actually i have ordered totally new laptop where i am going to install only V11.0. My old laptop with Step 7 V5.5, TIA V10.5, Mirowin, WinCC flexible etc... is going leave for old projects...

But frankly speaking I don't think will be in this way. The logic is to be able to save like "old version" and using the software in old platform. In other way will be a mess. Note: STEP 7 Basic V11 program S7-1200 CPU with firmware V1.0, and V2.0. So, you don't need to change de CPU firmware to work with STEP 7 Basic V11. 2 - I have a project which will be starting very soon. Note: In readme.pfd file for STEP 7 V11 (http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/de/49639088) are points to be observed if you intend to convert the program. In special, I copy this part of page 27: "To monitor and test a program converted from STEP 7 V10.5, you have to first compile and load with STEP 7 V11.0." If I right understand, you don't have yet the V11, but it comes soon to you. My suggestion is to take a look at the open FAQ, and see what you will need to do if you start with 10.5 and migrate "on the fly" to V11. Thereare many improvements in V11, so make sense to use it.
