[long answer] Hi Micheal, Digital inputs/outputs are signals that are ON and OFF. In your case the relay is either ON or OFF.. so yes you can use it as a digital output. It is good that you to ask if DC can be connected. Not all PLC brands allow this. Some relays are special of AC or DC. In your case you are okay. Please see the attached PDF (bottom of page 1 and page 2) for specifications on the relay outputs. Please note on the PDF (Table on page 2): 1. Voltage (AC/DC) 2. Amps for voltage 3. Switching cycles lifetime (minimum) 4. Maximum switching frequency You could even flash a lamp with the output if you want to.. but better to do so at a rate of 1 cycle per second and less. - Q0.0..Q0.3 receive power from 1L (X12) - Q0.4..Q0.5 receive power from 2L (X12) That means that you can also mix AC and DC if you wish to do so. A further note is that you can connect 0Vdc (signal ground / minus) to 1L / 2L if you wanted to. Some devices (especially Asian made motion control) require NPN signalling. NPN signalling is where the device gets 0Vdc for a ON signal and anything else above ca. 5Vdc is OFF. .... As a last note - The PLC is blind for what voltages you connect where. The PLC is only concerned with switching the relays ON or OFF. It is only the electrical connections that makes it capable of switching AC or DC and of various voltage levels. .... I have tried to anticipate what you will need from your question. I hope this is of help to you. Best regards. w AttachmentEXTRACT_S71200 FW4 System Manual (201403).pdf (289 Downloads) |
