Using Third Party Ethernet/IP Devices in Portal

I would like to use an S7-300 to communicate with an Ethernet/IP stepper amplifier (ST10-IP-EN), Ithink I'll need to use TCON, TSEND, and TRCV, but don't know how to add a third party device from the hardware catalog. This stepper amplifier has an a ESD file, but not an GSDML file. I've tried adding a PC Station, with an IEGeneral, and connected it to my Profinet, but cannot choose it in the TCON Connect block. Is this possible and if so how do I do it. I'm using Step 7, Portal v11, upgrade 5. Thanks, Larry

TCON, TSEND, TRCV is typically used for TCP communication. Hardware catalog contains devices which are supported by the software itself or the devices for which the GSD / GSDML are installed. So typically for TCP communication you need not drag and drop any device to your Network view, proper configuration will do. For having a better idea on TCP communication you can go through this - How do you program the TSEND_C and TRCV_C instructions for open user communication over the integrated PROFINET interface of the S7-1200 CPU?- an example in TIA Portal but with S7-1200 How do you program the communication blocks FB63 "TSEND", FB64 "TRCV", FB65 "TCON" and FB66 "TDISCON" in order to use the TCP protocol for data exchange by means of the integrated PROFINET interface of an S7-300 or S7-400 CPU?- an example in S7-300 but in Classic software Anyhow the S7-300 TCP comm in TIA Portal will be more or less similar to the above mentioned S7-1200 example

You don't need to configure any device in hw configurator as there are no suitable parameter files for this device. You may configure the connection to the unspecified device, there is a wizzard whenever you put a TCON instruction TIA wants to help you with automatic generation of instance datablock of TCON. I assume that you will face problems making this application, and you will need to write the protocol stack in SCL. The most important thing is a variable of type TCON_Para, there is pretty much all the settings for communication to other device. This variable is called by TCON,TSEND,TDISCON it should have its unique ID for one device. I can send you an example for MySQL client with S7-1200 all in SCL, in my program this variable is called net_settings and its values were set manualy by me. The setting are: -native TCP/IP communication -IP address of 3rp party device (Mysql server): 192.168.1.127 -port: 3306 All other are set to default, look in manual what are the meaning of each parameter. Download wireshark program to spy communication. Good luck. Ican't download it make file too large error,sorry
