Variant and VREF Data Types

shwetha Posts: 23 Rating: (0)	Hello All I am trying to use indirect addressing in S7-1200. Sadly, S7-1200 does not have pointers . I found that, variant can be used to point any type of structures. But, it is available as only temporary data type. Cannot be passed as an argument. There is a data type called VREF which according to help info, can be used to store a variant pointer. Has anyone used VREF to store a variant pointer? If so, any examples would be really appreciated. Thank you very much in advance Shwetha.

If so, any examples would be really appreciated. Thank you very much in advance Shwetha. FieldRead/FieldWrite are useful in S7-1200 for managing buffers and indirectly addressing data. Peek/Poke as well as pointed out in the above post. smitty posted about a way using scl code to use the any pointer for some pretty low level indirect addressing. Search for their posts and it will be one with many stars.

I found smiffy's profile, clicked to view their posts, and within a few seconds, spotted this thread: /tf/WW/en/Posts/76336#top It may not do exactly what you want. The details smiffy presents is way beyond my needs, but may be perfect for yours.
