Hello,

I have a 1200 Comfort Panel that I am trying to write the system time from said HMI into an array of 7 DINTs used in my Rockwell PLC. I have this array of DINTs in my HMI Runtime Tags as 7 individual DINTs. 

DATE_TIME[0] = Year

DATE_TIME[1] = Month

DATE_TIME[2] = Day

DATE_TIME[3] = Hour

DATE_TIME[4] = Minute

DATE_TIME[5] = Second

DATE_TIME[6] = Millisecond

I am still new to scripting and have tried to look though various posts about reading date/time but I cannot seem to write anything that does not have a whole pile of errors when I check for syntax errors. I'm guessing what I am trying to do is relatively simple but I cannot seem to figure it out.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are your errors linked to the VB script or to the connection to the Rockwell PLC?

Which PLC model are you connecting to, what driver have you setup between the TP 1200 Comfor and the PLC? For a Controllogix or Compactlogix CPU you should use the Ethernet/IP driver available in WinCC, the first step is always to configure the connection properly and ensure there is an active communication channel; the second is to create variables in your script that the PLC accepts natively; are you sure the PLC accepts 4-byte registers (DINT) for its time setting?

Can you give us a screenshot of the errors you are getting?

I do not have any errors with connecting to the PLC. I have set up quite a lot of siemens HMIs to Rockwell PLCs, just never used scripting. The PLC I'm connecting to is a 1769-L36ERMS. I have no problems with any of the HMI function, it has been running in production for years. I am trying to add the above ability (HMI Time written to PLC) and all of my searching and googling led me to believe that scripting would most likely be my only option? I just do not know how to write scripting to accomplish the above tasks. I get syntax errors when I try to compile. (See screen shot below)

I know this is likely to not understanding the syntax and trying to mesh things I have found in the forums together improperly.

As the error says: Tag is not declared in line 11, Column 12.

I guess my questions are how to even start? I've deleted everything I've tried a dozen times now getting more and more frustrated. 

Does anyone have any links for beginners to read/write runtime tags starting from ground zero?

I guess what I'm saying is at this point, I don't even know what questions to be asking as I know the script I write has to hope of functioning but am struggling to find any help on where to start this journey on the the struggle bus for guys like me who can write ladder logic for days but has very little experience with VB.
