Peter Posts: 83 Rating: (8)	Hallo... is it possible using VBA in Graphic Designer to search and add internal tags in WinCC? I want the VBA to check whether the Tag in question is already exist or not and if not create it. Thanks in advance. Peter

Nemo Posts: 3149 Rating: (171)	Hi Peter, you can do this quite easy by using "Listtag"-function, you can find more about this in your WinCC online help. Another way would be using the WinCC varexim tool: - export your variable to CSV-file - read this CSV-file by your VBS and check, whether this variable is already existing http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/22016422 Regards, Nemo

I used the ListTag to find and it works find although it will take some time to get my tag (I have more then 6k tags in my application). It would better if there is a second filter (z.B. for connection). The next problem is creating tag. I would like to create tag with Text Reference type. I found in the help file this info and used this in my code: objHMIGO.CreateTag strVariableName, TAG_TEXT_REFERENCE, , , "Text_Library" Note: "Text_Library" is my group name. Now the problem is: how to set the property START VALUE ? I have to tell the tag where to look the text in Text Library, right? Nemo Posts: 3149 Rating: (171)	Hi Peter, well, I think it will take two steps to reach your goal: 1) create an entry in your TextLibrary by using "createtext" => there you get your text-ID 2) create your tag in Tagmanagement by using "createtag" => use the text-ID as your start-value WinCC online help is giving precious hints for createtext/createtag - as always [:D] regards, Nemo

My only trouble is, I know virtually nothing about VBA, and can't even get the example of the CommitTag function (cut & pasted) to work properly. A syntax check gives the error message - "Expected end of statement (5): Dim objHMIGO As HMIGO" I'm only looking into the VBA route as I can't see any other way of an operator preserving internal tags other than modifying their Start values.

Nemo Posts: 3149 Rating: (171)	Hi, I suppose, you just copied the VB-code from WinCC help as e.g. Mouse action in Graphics Designer?? => open Graphics Designer >tools > macros > Visual Basic Editor create a new module there, insert the subroutine from online help, compile/run your module and voilà you should get some messages and your Tags in TagManagement will be changed...
