Viewing compiled SCL source

Programmer[0] Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hello, I would like to view the compiled code generated by TIA portal for an FB written in SCL. In Simatic manager it was always possible to open this with an STL editor. But I've not been able to do this in TIA portal. The reason I want to do this is because my SCL code is about 100 lines of code, but the generated code is 3 KB. I was rather surprised by this size and was wondering what exactly was causing this.

Regards Hello jacques-olivier_ch, SCL is availabe from STEP 7 Basic v11 SP2 onwards and this doesn't apply for STEP 7 Professional v11. STEP7 Professional v11 supports SCL for S7-300 & S7-400 systems right from day 1 of it's delivery release.

In classic STEP7, any blocks you wrote in SCL were compiled to STL, which in turn was compiled to runtime (MC7) code before being downloaded to the CPU. This is because SCL was not a native language (but STL was). So this gave you the option to open the block in an STL editor and see the resultant STL code for the compiled SCL. I assume that you want this same functionality in TIA? However as SCL is now a native language (like STL), it compiles directly to runtime (MC7) code without the STL step, so I don't think that you will be able to view the resultant STL code as there isn't any to view. I think that you only ever be able to view the block in the programming language the block was created in.
