Voltage rating and shield=PE section for inverter feed LV motor cables

paolo.azzaroli Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	My application has one Sinamics S120 with three booksize motor modules. Three motors are feeded; with power ranging from 2 kW to 40 kW. The motors voltage is 400 V, the upper frequency 87 Hz. Wich voltage rating is required for the motor cables: 450/750 V is enough, or 0,6/1 kV is needed ? Is there some manual or instruction booklet dealing with cable selection for the motor cables used with SINAMICS ? Some cable makers are selling cable with double copper shield; they claim the square section of the shield is as the section required for the PE conductor, thus the need for a sepatate PE conductor is avoided. From the point of view of the frecuency converter, is this kind of cable OK ? Best Regards

I read the english and the italian version of the installation instructions You referenced, but I was not able to find instructions about the two points - voltage level of motor cable insulation (450/750 V or 0,6/1 kV ?) - use of increased section shield as PE conductor insted of separate PE conductor In the italian version I found this direction: use only SIEMENS approved cables, but no list of Siemens approved cables for motor cables is given. DenisMor Posts: 344 Rating: (50)	You will need to contact you local Siemens representative. All cable part numbers are part of the Siemens PM21 Motion Control catalog (2011 is the latest version). Catalogs are free, but only available from Siemens offices. Another aproach is to use Sinamics Sizer configuration program. It will automatically pick the right Siemens cable part number for you. Again, free but only available from local Siemens office. You can also try to try to find PM21 catalog via Goggle: other companies post it on their web sites, but it is hit or miss. You may not get the whole catalog or outdated version (which should still be ok for cable selection).
