Hi PCS, I did finally get a connection with the PLC, the Gateway address I assigned at the start of the job had changed when installed on site and so did not match, putting this address in the connection details of the local connection solved the PLC connection problem. The connection to the HMI i.e. remote downloads was not achievable with the unit on site but when simulating the test with Siemens tech. supports VPN network it worked first time. An important note is that ports 2308 and 50523 must be open at both ends for this to work.Please see the link below for information on ports and there usage, it might help.
