W746 does not recover link to the CPU

System Description: In a system with 3 CPU315-2PN V2.6 one of the CPU's is linked over a wireless link. We have been using on set of W788 and W746. The problem is located at the link between W746 - CPU315-2PN. Those two are connected to each other via the Hybrid connector through the combo connector without a switch or hub. The movinge range of the W746 is about 20m linear. We use S7-Connections and PUT/GET for data transfer. Problem: it works fine but sometimes the link to the 3. CPU drops and does not come back. When we recycle the power of the W746 or do a soft restart from the web interface it recovers. In the logs of the W746 we can see several (Link Down - Link UP) and in for the "Ethernet" the operational status is "Down". Attachment link.JPG (292 Downloads)

I have attached the screenshots of the W788/W746 logs. We have done a couple of improvements at cable routes, positioning of the Wireless modules and in the logic to reduce the communication load etc. But none of them changed anything. It seems that the W746 cannot recover the link to the CPU back again? We made further test by just disconnecting the cable several times etc assuming that the plugs might have problems but those test did not cause this problem. Do you have the possibility to use a normal LAN cable and power supply for about an hour? Just to check or it enhance your system. I guess it will but it's hard to determine. If the communciation is down what is status of the P1 LED of the AP and/or the Link LED of the CPU? If this isn't the solution I'd like to have a look at the confirguration files of both devices. You can download these via Load & Save in the system menu. You can post them as a ZIP-file if you want. Your WLAN looks allright because not many errors are displayed.

We have replaced once and "repaired" several times the connector and cable. Just assume that again and again the cable or connector makes us trouble. But when the customer calls and I go online (I've got an remote access to the system) I can see the W746 which means radio is OK. And when I do a restart from the Web Interface the link comes back!!!!??? Without touching any cable!! So, WHY does it not do it self too and "freezes" the link to the CPU? I mean when restarting the WClient resovles it, it should do recover automatically? What could be the reason that the wireless OR the CPU "freezes" the ethernet link? The logic?

Is the same connector used every time or did you used new connectors? Furthermore I've checked your configuration files. I don't see failures but I can give you some advice to enhance your system. 1. You use 802.11h I wonder why you have chosen for this. Is it an outside application? Are all the channels available for 802.11a blocked by other systems? 2. Please choose a different alternative channel. Here I would advice zou to use channel 140. 3. Update your firmware to version 4.1.11. Do not use 4.1.18 because with this version the 802.11h channels are blocked. This is only temporarily. Download of Firmware Update V4.1.11 for SCALANCE W-700 4. You could check what happens with your connection if you change the MAC Mode of the Client to Layer2Tunnel. You don't use PN IO Traffic since your are talking about PUT/GET but you have a PN IO System in your HW-Config otherwise your BF2 LED won't lit up when the cable is gone. 5. Did you already exchanged the CPU's for a time to check or the behaviour is only there where the WLAN Client is involved. 6.I would love to get feedback when you solved the problem.
