Hello, the best way is you use a signal conditioner for potentiometer and connect them to your module. Then can you connect the voltage output of the conditioner to the M0+ (1) and M0- (2). regards |

Hello, 1. At your diagram when you turn your knob to max, you apply 24V to your AI. So you have to use additional resistor in series which limits max voltage to 10V 2. With the above mentioned limitation resistor, this will be working. But you should be aware, that when you use this approach, the accuracy of the resulting signal dramatically falls. Now it depends also on the accuracy of you 24V PS, which is generally low. I would say, you can use your approach if the accuracy of +/-8..12% suits you. The normal way to read the potentiometer value is to use a dedicated potentiometer converter (conditioner, as has been said above), which can be a standalone (converts a potentiometer signal to a normalized e.g. 0..10V with declared accuracy), or a dedicated PLC module with resistor reading function (e.g.6ES7331-1KF02-0AB0). The alternative way is also to supply a potentiometer not from a general purpose 24V PS, but from an accurate 10V reference voltage (I don't know if there are standard devices of this kind) |
