Web Navigator problems and user authorization?

RaGud Posts: 46 Rating: (1)	Hi all, I have recently installed a Web Navigator V6.1 SP1 (WinCC V6.0 SP3) and am trying to get everything up and running. First of all I want to make several user accounts with various levels of access. Now, I have tried to follow the literature but it seems it doesn't always agree with the WinCC dev. In User Administrator I have several authorization catagories, I havecreated users and enabled different authorizations for each user. In Graphics designer, when I try to grant authorization to certain graphic objects (e.g. Button > Properties > Miscellaneous > Authorization > ) the Authorizations window is empty - no authorizations there to choose from, even though they have been defined in the User Administrator. Hence, my question is how can I make restricted access for different users? Please bear that I tried following the WinCC V6 Configuration manual and the WinCC Information System. Secondly, when viewing the alarm control (in RT) the message text is missing! Am I missing a setting/config somewhere? The message text for the alarms and warnings appears in WinCC but not in WinCC Web Navigator. I would appreciate if someone could shed some light on these misteries for me. Thanks, Ragnar

RaGud Posts: 46 Rating: (1)	Hi Danielle and thanks for your reply. I beg your pardon, we are running WinCC V6.0 SP4 (not SP3 as I said before). It was updated before we installed the Web Navigator. So, this is not a compatability problem due to WinCC SP3. Best regards, Ragnar

And... on the web server the screen shows the alarms' description, but on the web clients they aren't showed? About the empty authorization window: I've had that in the past, and it worked itself out when I re-started both WinCC and the computer. Have you tried that?

What do you mean by: "...but on the web clients they aren't showed" Surely the alarm description is viewable on the web clients?!?!? - I will try restarting the WinCC and PC and see if the empty authorizationwindow fills up. Obviously this hasn't worked for you so let's look at some other suggestions : 1) Are your Windows Regional Settings set to English ? If so can you ensure you are using English(US) and not English(UK). 2) Try creating a new test project to see if the authorisations appear. 3) What version of Windows are you running ? If it's XP or W2003 then it could be a security setting somewhere. 4) Do you have any anti-virus software running ? If yes, try disabling it temporarily. That's all for now but hopefully you'll get this one sorted soon. Salma

RaGud Posts: 46 Rating: (1)	Hi Danielle and Salma and thanks for your advice. I have attached a .pdf showing what I meant earlier when I was talking about a problem with the Alarm Message Text. A picture tells more than 1000 words, right? [;)] Do you know this problem? Now, regarding the other problem. Salma, you were right, I can view and select all the different access levels by changing the language to English (US) from Icelandic. I still haven't tested it thoroughly but I hope it works all the way through. Ok, now I have a work around for this problem, but I still am not happy with having to change the language every time I have to modify something. (The Icelandic text is not viewable when I change to English.)Am I right inassumingyou clever people at Siemens going to fix this problem? WinCC (European version) only supports five languages - English(US), French, Spanish, Italian & German. You should not configure it with any other language as it could lead to problems (as you have seen ! ). Who knows when this will change. Many WinCC users here don't understand why we need to use English(US) when we are in the UK !! Now in Runtime you can use any language. However the texts are stored in different places depending on the language configured in Graphics Designer and Alarm Logging editors. My guess is that you have a different Runtime language configured in WinCC and WebNavigator. Please open the Text Library Editor and note which column contains all your alarm texts.
