Web navigator problems

Darius Platinum Member Joined: 9/28/2005 Last visit: 12/10/2024 Posts: 2957 Rating: (243)	Hello, I have some big issues using WinCC v6.2 and Web Navigator v6.2 with 3 client licenses. WinCC application on Web Navigator server runs just perfect. If I try to connect to Web Navigator server using one of clients, I log onto server, get my start picture and then "not responding" from IE v7 SP2. I can't see any values of tags in my start screen. It seems that these values were not updated from the server. The same happens if I use IE as client on the same computer as Web Navigatopr server. I must say that all tag values that I must see resides in project function. This function uses GetTagDWord(); function and then do some calculations and then return value to the IO field. So where may it be the problem? Maybe there is some restrictions using global script on client ? Sometimes client's IE responds with one or two (correct) values of tags, but other is "dead". Maybe you can give some directions on how to diagnose these problems and find solution? I will be very thankful for any response from you becouse this is an emergent situation. Thanks in advance. Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi Darius, Some functions, specially in C, aren't compatible with WebNavigator. In Web Navigator online help you can find those function, which are possible with Web Navigator. I have an old list of unsupported functions, so I'm posting it here... you should look in the help either way, just in case... You said you make calculations using scripts. How are these scripts called? When you open a screen, or a command box? Have you made sure that the web navigation isn't getting mixed up with the regular operations (they could be using the same internal tags for calculations, at the same time, for instance). Remember that all scripts are executed in the server, so it's the same script engine for the operating station which is the web server and the web clients... You also said sometimes some tags are updated, and others not.. do those which are updated depend on this function? Have you ran your project under APdiag, to check for any script errors? I can't do some diagnostics by now, but I can post you script: long WordSwap(char *TagName) { long rezultatas, kintamasis; kintamasis = GetTagDWord(TagName); rezultatas = (kintamasis & 0xFFFF0000) >> 16; rezultatas = rezultatas >> 16; rezultatas = rezultatas \| ((kintamasis & 0x0000FFFF) << 16); return rezultatas; } This is my project function which is called in every I/O field for outputing value. Script runs on picture cycle. I write C script in I/O output value property. This script calls function above suplying tag name. So this script is called in Web Navigator client too. Now I'll try to do some diagnostics and see what else can be wrong. Regards, Darius

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi Darius, The script is quite simple actually.. as the name says, it's just word swapping... can't see anything unsupported there... How many fields (just an estimate) do you have calling this function? All fields in a screen would be calling it simultaneously, right? And when you open a screen in Web Navigator you get many more I/O Fields calling the exact same functions... maybe these requests are too many, so a query is being formed with the scripts which are waiting to run... if this was causing the problem, you could get something in your diagnose... either way, could you post your diagnose folder here? I tried to use modbus communication driver from WinCC v5.0 on WinCC v6.2. Everything seems work fine except when there was a lot of tags in a window or when I use Web Navigator. I thought that I could use this driver and buy license for it (Siemens still sell it for those who has WinCC v5.0). So I replaced my communication driver to OPC server and all problems are gone. So thanks for your support and directions how to find my solution. P.S. IE 7 SP 2 have no compatibility issues with Web Navigator v6.2 Regards,

I didn't know this was the same system from the modbus thread... maybe the problem had something to do with the communication and polling rates... Well... And I still have some big issues with Eb Navigator. Now all tags from OPC server is used directly in I/O field with scan cycle of 2s. When working with WinCC directly everything seems just perfect. When I try to "see" application with Web Navigator client, everything goes wrong (but not every time). I start IE with WinCC application. When I see start page in IE I get 2-3s second no response from IE. If I try to use some buttons for screen navigation in WinCC application in this period of time (no response time), all I/O fields in the screen becomes grey. This happen simultaneusly in WebNavigator client and in WinCC itself. After some time these tags began to refresh their values. Refresh is slow becouse I use 9600 bps modbus. If I try to look at quality code of tag it says code: 4 and descriptio "addresing error". It is weird becouse without using Web Navigator I get no errors. This happens only when I start WinCC application, then all tags were grey and refreshes fast. When I use WebNavigator it seems that it forces all tags to default values and makes them to rerefresh their values. There are no global scrips in application. Only actions which do not affect WebNavigator. So I don't know where to search for the problem. My only one oppinios is that I must use picture cycle in all I/O fields instead of standard 2s cycle. Unfortunally I can try it right now. Please help me with some directions on how to solve problem. Or maybe you can explain the principle how WebNavigator read tag values from WinCC. Any help is welcome. I'm sorry for poor english, becouse the problem is very complex and it is difficult to describe it in english. Regards,

See... one thing I can think of is the situation I've described before: you have scripts running for all I/O Field objects. When you use WebNavigator, there could be too many scripts, which would make the ones which can't be executed in the right time form a queue. So some of them wouldn't run immediately... that would explain why some values are updated and some aren't... You should run your application under APDIAG, and post the diagnose folders, so we can take a look at them... Best regards, Danielle

As I use OPC server, I dont need to swap my words, so all I/O fields are connected DIRECTLY to process tags. No scripts. Unfortunally I can't get to my diagnose folder right now. Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi Darius, I found this FAQ with Web Navigator 6.2's compatibility... the supported IE version for the Web Client is v6.0 SP1 or 2... Try accessing your server from a station with on of those versions of IE, and see if it works... By the way... after changing your .Pdl's you've published them again, right? Best regards, Danielle
