Web server behind router......working kind of......

Hi All,

I have created a simple data logging program that I can access and download from the PLC when connected on the same LAN no problem.

Trying to connect to the PLC from remote and I have setup the port forwarding on the router which again works fine.

When I try to log on to the PLC after the standard Siemens welcome page it hangs, then timeout.....

I have setup the port forward from 8080 on the WAN to 80 internally.

I cannot get pass the log on screen to access the data log files .

the PLC IP, Netmask and router IP are correct.

Any ideas??

**Edit ** Could it be after log on the port changes to 443?

Hello,
The login procedure is encrypted.
The wirshark trace in annex confirms that port 443 is used (TLS connection).
I would try a port forward of port 443.

However, I still have a small doubt if this will be enough. Because the TLS connection establishment starts from the PLC and not from the PC.

Please let us know.

Security note: Be aware that port forwarding exposes the device directly to anyone.
Using a VPN with authentication is a more secure approach and avoids multiple port forwards.

Hi Sorry for the late response. I didn't receive a notification. 

It does change to port 443 after logon. 

I noticed afterwards in the PLC properties you can check a box for only use 443 connection but the site is over 200 miles away!

Luckily for me the home page still responds to a https connection so allmi did was forward 443 to the PLC and all is well.
