I'm trying to activate a screen when i press the e-top button which is connected to input 7 on my logo plc.

I would like the hmi to return to the previous screen when the e-stop is released, unless overidden by the plc.

 In Logo Soft Comfort, i have the enable pin of an analog mux block hooked up to input 7 (estop button), and the V1 parameter for the mux is set at 2. I have a network analog output block connected to the output of the analog mux, and the tag adress for the e-stop screen is set as the same as the analog output block.
In the properties for the e-stop screen tag, i have the range set at 3 maximum and 1 minimum (constant). 

If i hit the e-stop button, nothing happens. I tried playing with the "on exceeding" and "falling below" functions in the events tab for the tag, but it didnt do what i was hoping. 

What am i missing?

 thanks, but that isnt helping much. the biggest problem i am having with this is stuff that i'm unfamilar with isn't coming up in searches. for example, what exactly is an object number? if  i search object number, it doesnt come up with anything really, at least for v13.1. If i search the wincc manual, it does not find object number anywhere. 

anyway, i did have the acquisition mode set to cylic continuous, so that isn't it. 

can someone just please walk me through this? 
ideally, i'd like an analog network output in my logo plc program to pick the screen number in my hmi.
So if NAQ1 is VW5, and the value of VW5 is 3, i'd like it to open a specified screen.
If i have an hmi tag linked to that address and set the change value event to setscreenbynumber, and choose the correct screen number, do i set the object number as 3 to match the value i'm looking for from VW5? 
Please help, i have days into this and still cant come up with something that works. I do not know if i'm doing it incorrectly or i have an issue somewhere else like a race condition.

I am sorry to hear about your frustrations.
Let us see how we can turn this around.

Please consider making a sample project for LOGO and HMI that only does the screen switching - as you think it should work. Then share this one with us.

It will be easier for the guys to evaluate from this where possible issues might be. Things like overlapping memory for example can be identified too.
