What do I need to START Wincc project? Please help

PLC LOVER Posts: 23 Rating: (0)	Hi, Good morning, I just want to ask if I do need other software to work on wincc. I already have working on a plant that have s7300s and cp 343-1 with mp370. I'm planning to upgrade it to wincc and right now i got the software and started to work on it but i cannot communicate to the PLC even turning on and off a bit. I already install simatic protocol suite, and under tcp/ip i put the tag that i want to control here. I already put the ip adress of the cp on the properties of the new connection. Have you installed Simatic Net software? What version? Did you configure a PC-station? Best regards, Wizard

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi Rey, You said you have an MP370, but you're trying to configure a SCADA system now, right? To communicate using WinCC you'll need either Step7 or Simatic Net to be installed on that computer. A Simatic Net CD comes along with your WinCC package. You also get a license for Simatic Net Lean in that package, which allows for up to 8 ethernet connections. Be sure to always check the software compatibility when installing Siemens software. You can check this FAQ for that. This is the WinCC v6 Communication Manual. So... once you've made sure you have the right software, a network adapter, and have the computer and the PLC in the same network (you can ping the PLC from the computer, as a test) you must configure the communication... On "WinCC Explorer -> Tag Management -> Simatic S7 Protocol Suite", if you right-click "TCP/IP" you can select the "System Parameter" option. There, in the "Unit" tab, you must select a communication processor within the computer, the one which will be used for the connection. When you right-click your connection, you can select "Properties". There you must configure the IP address, rack and slot number for your PLC. Best regards, Danielle

PLC LOVER Posts: 23 Rating: (0)	Hi Danielle/Wizard, For Wizard: I just want to communicate using tcp/ip not industrial ethernet( I don't know the difference between two). I'm using Wicc6.0 and Simatic net2006. I don't know what to do with the PC Station. For Danielle: Your right thats what I'm planning to do to upgrade to scada. Yes I have Step7 5.4 and simatic net 2006. I can ping the ip address of the cp. Yes I already did it I use marvel yukon which is my network adapter but the default is s7cp tcp/ip. I also put rack address 0 and slot number 2. Quesstion is wincc can work with my ordinary network adapter(Marvell yukon) or I realy need to have something like cp1613? Thank you very much in advance. Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi Rey, Well... let's not get into details on TCP/IP x ethernet... but all Wizard applies to your case as well... Did you configure the system parameters yet, selecting your communication processor, as I mentioned previously? I use other manufacturers for this with no problem... CP1613 is only necessary when you have to couple with more then 8 PLCs or when you want to transfera lot of data between the CP and more PLCs, or when you have different protocols, but this doesn't seem to be your case. You've confirmed you can access the PLC from the computer... And those are pretty much the steps you need to take in WinCC to configure this communication... Best regards, Danielle
