Hi! Briefly, in an OPC application, tag means unique identifier to an I/O point. So, 128 tags means 128 I/O points (inputs or outputs) can be connected to OPC. Hereyou can find more detailed information about OPC and tags, such as data access tags, alarm tags, historical data tags, etc Hope it helps

Hello olloy, I hope you dont mind me stating my 2 cents here. I would not define a tag as an identifier to an I/O point, as it can easily be mixed up with I/O signal, especially for a beginner (but I understand your poit of view). I would define a tag as an identifier to a value of a certain data type, which is used for transfer in a connection. So basically its the same as a variable, but a variable is used within a program, a tag is used for transfer in a connection. regards |
