Hello lameduck; If you use a 4-20 mA signal as input to your analog module, then a wire break will show up as a value of 0mA (recognized as an"Underrange" value). That is why this standard has been developped (along with 1-5 V, 3-15 psi, and other types of offset analog signals): a loss of signal (wirebreak for example)is simply represented by an absence of signal.
