Hello, I am from Presales, I want to know the difference between G3 Complied and G3 conformal coating. Could you please clarify whether (S7 1200,1500,300,400 and regarding IO modules) system are G3 complied or with G3 conformal coating. I don't want to use SIPLUS modules as budget concern. Thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Hello Nam; In various documents you can find the environmental data for S7 modules. For example, in the S7-300 module data manual, you will fins an appendix with the G1-G3 conformity information, as per ISA S71.04. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/8859629 Now, if your project requires protection to the Gx level, you will need conformal coating, and therefore you will have to purchase a Siplus module. About the extra cost for Sipolus modules: very often initial budgets are calculated without taking into account the specific environmental requirements on a project. These may change and evolve, depending on local conditions., and the budget must be revised at that point, even if that can be painful. Is it better to use a less costly module knowing that its operating life might be shortened because of deleterious atmosphere,, or high level vibrations, for example? Your reputation (and your client's happiness) might be affected if you bring to site equipment that cannot survive the local environment. For any other module, I suggest you open the module documents and check the validity of this statement such as https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/59191792. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
