Since HMI's do not by themselves generate data.  They can of course convert data into useful information.  If you access the data source (the PLC) via OPC UA, you can create information from the collected data as well.

I understand you want to avoid retrieving PLC data twice, once for HMI and once for OPC UA.  Makes perfect sense.

Hi,

I have a TIA project including a WinCC Professional station.

I want to expose data from the WinCC Professional Runtime to some application software. 

The data connection will use the OPC UA of WinCC. What license is required to make the OPC server available?

At the moment, I have no visible OPC UA server, as I did not install a license for OPC UA.

I cannot find the right license for OPC UA in WinCC Professional (TIA).

Any hints appreciated!

Configure the WinCC Professional project for the comfort panel (in runtime) to also be a OPC UA server.  Are you not able to enable that?  What version of TIA Portal / WinCC Pro are you using?  Does it have the latest updates installed?

In this case WinCC is used as a data platform and reading must be from the WinCC and not from the PLCs.

I used this for PCS7 in the past, but I am missing the right license for running an OPC UA server on my WinCC Professional station (TIA).

Unfortunately, the linked document does not contain information on the required license.

You may find the answer by configuring the software.

Or, are you asking about a future problem for which you do not currently have the software or OPC UA licensing and are asking what to purchase?

I got the impression you wanted something to work and stated what you had to work with.
