Hello, Why do you need the DP port with DP-V1 or DP-V2? Which plc do you communicate? Tweety |

Hello Angus; My experience is that DPV1 and higher classifications of Profibus should apply only to Masters Class 1, that is DP-masters that hold a strict configuration of thier slaves and of the bus properties to setup the Profibus exchanges (i.e. PLCs, controllers). Here is a link to a succint explanation of the differences between DPV0, DPV1 and DPV2: http://www.us.profibus.com/wordpress/index.php/2009/06/what-are-the-differences-between-profibus-v0-v1-and-v2/ Whereas in Siemens' world HMI and SCADA are Masters Class 2 that hold a token when it is their turn on the bus, but do not interrogate slaves on a cyclic basis. So operator panels would not be considered a DPV1 or DPV2 partners. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
