What software tools are you using ?

aikona Posts: 487 Rating: (36)	Hi We are members of this forum because we use Siemens material but what other software are you using to help you in your job For instance we are using : VNC and RDP ( remote desktop) to connect to all PC/HMI in the plant. VPN to connect to the plant from home. VMware Player for testing but also in the field. Acronis for back-ups. IPScan to view all the PC/PLC on our network And off-cause we use Delphi for all kinds of home made one-off software. Some explanation about VMWare Our plant is divided into a industrial IT and Office IT ,each with there own set of rules.Production required software from both the industrial and office side and we did not want two pc's so we installed the industrial software ( wincc) on the physical PC and installed all the office software ( word ,excel etc) into a VMWare.We then 'opened' the vmware from inside wincc but this did not work to good ( kept losing focus for the mouse) We used the same RDP client in Delphi and call the Delphi program from wincc. Its more than a year now that we are using VMWare as production machine and it works amazingly well .Our IT deparmtent is also using vmware but on a much larger scale ( some kind of farm with about 8 PC's connected together.) Like to hear what other people are using to make their job easier. Eric

I do use some port.apps but not for work . One that I forgot is PN or programmers notepad .
