I am in a simmilair situation as Kamilw..

I just bought for the first time a panel a'la Comfort  [KP700], just to try these comfort panels and see the differance compare to the basic panels.  I order it as a starter kit [6AV2181-4GB10-0AX0].

Actually i am using a floating licence TiaPortal V14 Basic, the starter pack of the panel comes with an software package, [Simatic WinCC Comfort V15] [6AV2101-0AA05-0AA5]

This software pakage includes a floating licence for the WinCC comfort V15., so i installed these software at the same PC as were the TiaPortal V14 is installed, after installing these new software i discover at the licence manager 2 new licences;

1. Step7 Professional Version 15.0     [trail licence  21days]

2. WinCC Comfort Version 15.0    [floating licence]

Maybe stupid, but i start one of my existing projects in the new V15, becouse i still didnt find the new panel [kp700 comfort] in my V14 version to add them to my project.. or find anything separate software to design separately the panel runtime.

I was in that meaning that the WinCC comfort V15 software was something separate editor to build up al the visual stuff for my new kp700 panel.. but i guess its a kind of 'add on' to tia portal V15 Professional.. and not to use at my V14 Basic how i bought a few months ago..:(

So now here my question;

What do i need to do to keep using my new WinCC comfort V15 software?

1.Buy a V15 Basic licence

2.Buy a V15 Professional licence  [will be expensive i guess]

3.Keep V14 Basic, and change something else. [maybe a kind of upgrade is needed]

TIA Portal - WinCC Comfort V14 is a separate installation from what you have already. I expect if you install this software, the WinCC Comfort V15 license will activate its use. (untested opinion)

In this way you will have Step7 Basic and WinCC Comfort licenses that can have you run an integrated TIA Portal V14.

eehm, to be clear.. i do not have WinCC Comfort V14, i never worked with Comfort-panels in the past..only used the basic panels;). so, i only do have an TiaPortal V14 Basic licence at my PC.

you can use the V15 licence for V14 too,.

So you should buy a V15 licence.

 You don't need to buy anything. Just download and install WinCC Comfort V14, and your V15 licence will cover it.

V14 and V15 should work installed together, and V15 licence covers V14 and V15.

So you should be able to work now in V14 and V15 all the same, and when your V15 step7 basic licence expires, only in V14 normally and in V15 you could only edit the HMIs, not the PLCs.

(And then you could by a licence only for Step7 V14->V15 upgrade to run it normally again)

This is, if everything works as Siemens says :D
