Which ethernet CP is compatible with a 150u

Fatso Bronze Member Joined: 9/11/2006 Last visit: 3/17/2022 Posts: 168 Rating: (6)	Hi all i need to know which Ethernet CP1 can use, and alsoif the backplane/rack works with that card someone told me i need an active rack to connect a CP card.My configuration is as follows: The first 3 slots are empty then 6ES576-0AA11, 6ES5924-3SA11, 6ES5925-35A11, 6ES5926-35A11, 6ES5927-35A11, 6ES5511-5AA12, 6ES5340-3KB41, 6ES512-5BC12, 6ES512-5BC21, 6ES5340-3KB21, The next 5 slots are empty, 6ES5304-3UA11, The part number for the rack is 6ES5150-3SB81 Regards Farai

fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 10/7/2024 Posts: 3024 Rating: (1054)	Hello Fatso to tell you the truth, I'drather convinceyou to throw your 150U in the bin and upgrade it to an S7, thentell you that you can actually add an Ethernet card to it. Nonetheless, it is your call and here's what you can do as far as I'm concerned (did I mention that I'drather throw your 150U in the bin and upgrade it to an S7?): A CP 535 can be used in your 150U central rack (6ES5150-3SB81) in Slots 13-16 (aka Slots "107","115","123", "131",if you closejumpers 1-8 on the backplane of your CR you can also use Slots 18&19 (aka "147" &"155"). This is unfortunately as much advise as I can give you on this subject. I never attempted to add an Etehrnet CP to a 150U myself and most likely never will (and should a customer ask me to do so I'd tell him that I'drather throw his150U in the bin and upgrade it to an S7). There's also not too much documentation available on the Siemens web for it (and I had to look up the above info in the German manual which is available for download). I have a similar S5 PLC config as you for a machining line. It has CP535 to collect Data with an old Machine Monitoring System. All this worked great until the MMS System and the Network was upgraded. We where able to asablish a Layer 4 ISO communication to the CP Card with a Siemens OPC Server. BUT, yes there is a BUT, the comunication was flakey and the CPU crashed once a week. You may not find any technical documentation on this, but you can use a old CP143 Card in one of your spare slots and establich a working communication with the Siemens OPC Server or a S7 PLC over ISO.
