Which model of S7 200 would you suggest for 30 input?

I'll run this on a computer with big monitor. I wanna use s7-1200 plc. Is it possible to do that? To display speed, we will use just a proximity sensor and take the speed of the machine from a rotating parts. PC based HMI is ok for this project? Dear friend, Thanks a lot. Take care that your monitor is supporting the resolution that WinCCflex alllows you. Use at least WinCCflex2008 SP3 Upd.7 to get all resolutions. Older WinCCflex Vesrions do not have all resolutions. Speed calculation by proximity switch should be done at PLC, not at HMI. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Split from Display PLC data in a big TV monitor.

CPU 224 for example has some Inputs on board an can handle expansion modules, so it is easy to use 30 Inputs and more. But S7-200 is not actual any more. Perhaps you need to buy an used one. If you like to work with WinCCflex, you can use a small S7-300. A CPU312 with additional 32 Input Expansion module is not expensive. I am afraid, you can not connect WinCCflexible to a S7-1200 CPU. If you want to use a S7-1200, you need WinCC (TIA)l as HMI.

Absolute addressing only, but it works fantastic! It is much more difficult because of the lack of integration between the two systems, but with some patience, shortcuts can be found. I am not suggesting it, especially now that you can use WinCC Comfort/Advanced right in TIA Portal along side your PLC of choice and choose between symbolic or absolute as you see fit. I am merely pointing out that with enough sweat and wasted time, you _can_ make it work. IBN-Service Marsus For 30 input can you please suggest a model of S7 200. I must say that I was lucky because need only basic display simple numbers to HMI without some critical/hard structure situation that maybe Huggy explained. Working ok to me without problems. Update: only little deatail what I remember (very old prj) with TP177B PN/DP and S7-1200 v3.1???
