I think there are newer Versions of these instructions available for your plc.

In TIA portal => Task card "instructions" => communication ==> Modbus

you can change the version of the blocks.

 I have selected the latest Modbus versions (4.2) and i am still seeing the same error message - block not supported in this CPU. I have TIA V15 and the CPU is V2.5 of CPU1516 3-PN/DP. This text is from the help in TIA "As of instruction version V4.0 of Modbus_Slave and as of firmware versions V2.5 (S7-1500 CPUs) or V4.2 (S7-1200 CPUs), you can access data areas in DBs instead of directly accessing process images and holding registers"
So why cant my CPU use this version of Modbus Slave?

Split from MODBUS RTU master on a 1511F-1 CPU.

SOLVED.

The project i am working on was upgraded from a V14 project.

To use the later versions of the MODBUS instructions (V4.0) you need to update the PLC program to use V15 by pressing button in the "Instructions" window- see picture.

Closed cause question posted twice.
