Why did Siemens do that with TIA Portal?

Why does TIA Portal V13 can be compatible with TIA Portal V12? Now, My computer was installed with TIA Portal V13 but I have some project were written by TIA Portal V12, and now I can be Opened easy like before? I don't want to install 2 TIA Portal in my computer? Siemens must be change this way. I really don't like that what did Siemens do with TIA Portal? From my point of view thatTIA software should be free and the development/maintenance costs financed fromthe hardware being sold. In general the SIEMENS hard- and softwareis changing too quickly. Or do you get this message if you would work online and Upload a older project from a plc? I think a good idea is to read the FAQ and documentation for the last issue. Regards Christoph

I think it is not compatible for user who using TIA Portal. And when i open TIA Portal V12 by TIA Portal v13 it make one more folder. I think that isn't good.

JairVargas Experienced Member Joined: 9/15/2010 Last visit: 12/10/2024 Posts: 80 Rating: (13)	Hey, if you want to upload a program from a plc that was programmed with an older version, ex (10.5, 11, 12 ) and you are in v13, you just need a blank version of v10.5, v11 or v12, then you are able to upload from PLC programmed in 10.5, 11 or 12, in TIA PORTAL v13.
