why do the default DI/DO address is 124?

tn88test Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	I searched the forum, but I couldn't find the answer. Should I change it to 0 or just leave it alone? I'm using s7-300 CPU314C-2DP.

Be careful to the Size of the process-image input and output area (see hardware configuration of the CPU). Every supplier has its own numbering approach: digital addresses from 0, or from 100, 124 etc., then analog inputs from 256 etc. It depends on how many inputs/outputs do you have in your application and how large you can set the process-image areas. William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1192)	(Trivia.. history lesson) In the "old" days the S7-300 PLCs did not have the ability to set the addresses. You had to use whatever was given & it worked in groups of 16 points. The "124" is chosen by the software to indicate digital IO that is on the main CPU. Therafter the default is to count from 0 in groupings of 16. The numbers followed one another regardless if it was inputs or outputs. As stated.. we can now customize the addressing numbers.. S7-300 / S7-400 / S7-1200 / S7-1500. Other PLC brands work differently, with some having the first number indicating the slot position. w
