Why doesn't WinCC support S7 Instance data stat variables?

Skillsman Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	One of the great puzzlers in WinCC integrated into a STEP7 project is that neither the compile function nor the S7 symbol browser includes static variables from instance data blocks. Creating instantiated FBs in STEP7 is one of it's really nice features, and should mesh very nicely with Structure tags in WinCC. However, as near as I can tell, the only instance DB data supported are ins, outs, and in/outs. Is there some reason that the static variables are excluded? Is there any plans to rectify this situation

Skillsman Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I am not using CFC, I am using both lad and stl for my programming languages. That also does not answer the reason why the developers chose to suppress them. Other "hmi related" products (Protool, SIMATIC Net OPC server for instance) made them available. It would make life much easier if it could serve them up

I fed back some of the TIA niggles but not this one. Might be worth you logging it with the hotline so that it can be incorporated into a future release. Having said that the ultimate plan is to merge WinCC and WinCC Flexible so maybe when that happens all these quirks will disappear[:D] Salma

It is a conceptual design decision to protect internal data structures. You have access to In/Out (“public” fields) but not a bit more. Plus if an FB is KNOW_HOW_PROTECT you can’t see the stat fields with STL/LAD Editor either. Dec
