Even I was thinking on the same line as Darius. However, just to add to what he has already said, minimum 1 connection resource is always reserved for a PG connection and that should allow you to go online with Step7 even if all other resources are occupied (in this case the remaining 31). So the question is do you have another programming station which is already accessing the PLC? And you should be able to have up to32 connectionon your PN port. (At leasttheoretically!)

Hello TEBANCH I'm afraid it hasn't (it has the same amount of 32, so it won't help you).
Well, potentially yes. Even though an external CP does NOT increase the number of connection resources that the CPU itself has, it does allow you to set up multiplexed connection (e.g. one CPU connection resource is used for multiple HMI stations) which may be the solution for you and your customer. Here are a few links which have more on this subject: How does connection multiplexing work and how do you configure it for SIMATIC S7-300 Ethernet CPs? S7-CPs for Industrial Ethernet Configuring and Commissioning Release 05/2008 C79000−G8976−C182−09 Manual Part A − General Application Why can't my SIMATIC S7-300 Ethernet CP run as many S7 communication connections as specified? I hope this helps |
