Working with TIA V12 on a s7-1200 i would like to view a table of all used bits in the program, wheter the bits are used at bits or in bytes (and thereby have no tag name assigned). What is the name of a such table and where will i find this?

Thank you for your answer, but i dont belive the cross reference is what i am looking for. In my believe the croos reference is a tool used for identifying a specific tag in the program, like if you want to find out where "M2.5" is used in the program.

But say there is no reference on M2.5 and you want to use it as a tag, you would have to check if it is being used in "MB 2".

Working with the old S5 system it was possible to generate a spread sheet with all bytes of the different data areas and if a bit inside a byte was used somewhere in the program (either as a single bit or as a part of a byte, word, or double word)it would be marked with a "X". So if fore instance you wantet to use "M2.5" you would simply scroll down to MB2 and look for bit nr. 5 i there was a "-" the bit was free to use but if there was a "X" this bit was used somewhere in the program.

Hope this all makes sense.

See if yous assignment list will not provide the information you require (it is part of the cross-reference utilities of your PLC).

From the Step 7 Basic v. 12.1 manual:

9.2.2 Displaying an assignment list

9.2.2.1 Introduction to the assignment list

Program information in the assignment list

The assignment list shows if an address has been allocated by access from an S7 program or if the address has been assigned to a SIMATIC S7 module. It is therefore an important basis for locating errors or changes in the user program.

In the assignment list, you have a CPU-specific overview of which bit is used in which byte of the memory areas listed below:

● Input (I)

● Output (O)

● Bit memory (M)

● Timer (T)

● Counter (C)

● I/O (P)
