WinCC 6.0 SP3a Alarm Logging Problems

labg Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Hi everyone: I'm having serious problems with the WinCC Alarm System set up for a PCS7 WinCC project from around one week ago. Which are the alarm system problems? - some audible alarms didn't work anymore; - alarm screens now look differents and nobody have changed it; - usually when any alarm comes up, the operator station show the alarm message at the top of the screen; now this functionality doesn't work anymore for some alarms tags or messages declared in alarm logging. I did some research, and I found that alarm logging database is corrupted. when I opened the alarm logging window from WinCC Explorer, I could see few things differents like "Invalid" values on fields as "Class" and "Type"; and those messages fields with "invalid" values are now highlighted with purple color, which is completely unusual for me, I haven't seen that before. Furthermore, as I said before alarm screens have changed; but believe it or not, the date of those alarm screens (or.PDL files) haven't changed comparing to a backup I did a month ago. I tried this but it didn't work: I restored my project backup in separate folder, I exported the alarm logging database from that backup project (which it's fine) to a text file, then I tried to import that text file into the alarm logging interface window of my current WinCC PCS7 project, but it didn't work. Alarm loggin database still is showing the same problems. *Please can somebody help me out with this serious alarm system issue?* Note: I have attached the snapshot of the alarm logging database corrupted. Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi labdg, Have you tried using Configuration Tool to export the data from the backup which works fine, deleting the data from the current project, then pasting the data from the excel sheet from the backup into the current project? Guess you tried exporting the database to a text file, but maybe you should try getting the configuration data corrected first, to make sure new alarms will work. You should try that... it seems like the problem is with the class / type, so maybe importing them from the project which works will do the trick... Best regards, Danielle

labg Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Thanks Danielle: I have set up before "WinCC Archive Configuration Tool" for excel in my engineering station but never "WinCC Configuration Tool". I found the installer in the PCS7 DVD, but when I run the set up for this utility, it is basically the setup program for the whole PCS7 program, and I couldn't find there the option or way to install "WinCC Configuration Tool". I'm dealing with that, as soon I figure that out, I will try your suggestions. Thanks. labg.

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi labg, In the WinCC installation DVD it's under "additional software"... You should give it a go, since it'll help you completely re-configure the alarm classes, groups and all... and it you still run into trouble, just post again and we'll try to help out! Yeah! and I create a troubleshooting procedure which I have tied with this reply and hope it could help other people dealing with the same issue. Although I did not solve the problem through “WinCC Configuration Tool” , I have discovered this wonderful tool thanks to you, it is really helpful to do modifications in the fast way to the alarm logging dabatase.
