WinCC 6.0 SP4HF7 - Multi-Language project issue

Big Bear Posts: 27 Rating: (2)	I'm working on a large project that supports 7 different languages, including Chinese. One feature our system has is the ability for the user to select different time/date settings for viewing purposes within the alarm control. eg: time in 24 or 12 hour format, and date either in MM/DD/YYYY OR DD/MM/YYYY format. In addition to this requirement we have to be able to change all the text according to the language settings of the project in runtime. What I have found is that although the alarm control has the ability to expose the date/time format, you can not use this feature if you intend to pull language from the text library. The text library is considered a "Project level" setting, so when you want for example to pull in your column headers you must go into the control properties, select the "Message Blocks" tab, and click the box titled "Column properties" under the Apply project settings header. Now when you do this, you totally take away the ability for the control itself to push a different date or time format in at runtime then what the project is set to. Example: My project is set to DD/MM/YY in alarm logging project settings. During run time my customer wants the option of displaying their alarms with a MM/DD/YY setting. Since I HAVE to pull my language into the headers at a project level this is not possible. My interim solution was to create a new .pdl which overlays the header and contains static text so when I change languages you now see the proper language displayed for the column headings. But in doing this, I lose my sorting capability of ascending/descending date/time and I also have a screen that does not look "perfect". ie: when changing to a language that does not present itself the same as standard languages (Chinese) my header does not line up since the font is different in size. If i make the font bigger in an attempt to get my alarm control to match in look to other languages, the font now becomes unreadable. Has anyone else come across this limitation/problem? Thanks

Big Bear Posts: 27 Rating: (2)	Tech support escalated this problem all the way up to the developers, it appears it is an oversight on their part that when you set the alarm control properties to local settings you do not have access to the text for setting it in various languages. The text is still coming in at the project level from the text library, regardless of whether you set the alarm control to local or project settings.
