WinCC 6.2 and SP3

Hi,

I intended to reinstall WinCC but it says it needs SP3, i have english XP SP2.

Is there any way of using WinCC without SP3? Do i really have to update Windows?

Can you attach some screens with your PC configuration, version of WinCC that you want to install and errors that you receive?

I guess in your PC automatic update is turn on and maybe now Windows is near to SP3. For this reason you can'tIf problem to install KB319740. If you want try this way:

or open your Registry Editor ( Start Menu -Run commands- write REGEDIT and push OK) and Go to this path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP3 add ( right click - new - key) the following registry key:KB319740

Reboot your PC and you should now be able to install WinCC without any problems.

How to add keys and values from the registry:

Create a text file like this:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SomeKey]
"SomeStringValue"="Hello"

When double clicking this .reg file the key and value will be added.

But remember WinCC is not compatible with SP3. And after succesfull installation also I don't know if will work properly. May be is better to make reinstall of Windows XP SP2. And also "touching" of the registry is not recommend.
