You are correct when you use a bridged connection you have to be in the same class network and in the same range. This is usually not a problem, especially with multiple network cards in the host. I do this all the time on a laptop. I have WinCC versions 5.1, 6.0, 6.2 and 7.0 running under VM Workstation 6.5 running under host OS of Windows XP, Windows XP 64 bit and Ubuntu 8.1 64bit.I usebridged and NAT connections to PLCs over TCP/IP. |

Hi markiii, 1) Please check this link and you can find which is compatible with which. 2) Please check the system parameter of the TCP/IP connection check the logical device name |
Best Regards |

Thank you all ;) From inside of the VM I can do whatever I usually do... surfing the web, connecting to a PLC with Step7, in bridged or NAT mode... without problem :) I am re-reading the getting started manual but I still can not see what I have wrong :( In a few step... - new project, single computer - binding the Simatic S7 Protocol Suite - new connection TCP/IP with the IP address of the PLC (on the same subnet as the computer I am working with) from here I should have a connection with the PLC, don't I ? |

Hello, We have Wcc7.0 on a virtual machine and the connection is OK. It has been working with WXP SP3 and WXP SP2. Oblywe have a problem with the script.exe, a problem that we had not whe we use Wincc 6.2 on a virtual machine and the same project, so, I think it's more a problem of Wincc rather than a problem of Virtual Machines. With Wincc6.2, over a virtual machine it works perfectly. Also, in the forum, another developer has the same problem with the script.exe exception and he is not on a virtual machine. If you have connection to the PLC with Step 7 via TCP IP, it should work. It works in my case. There is a thing, you must remember to change in Wcc, that it's possible your problem. Click with your secondary mouse button over the connection TCP/IP, and you have to select "S7 ONLINE" as access, (I don't remember exactly the button where is this option, and I have not now the virtual machine with wincc here), if I can I will tell you later exactly. |
