WinCC 7 inside virtual machine, unable to connect to the PLC

I erased the programm on my PLC, set the network to local IP (LAN) and started the whole setup in a new VM without Step7: my connexion is now succesfull Remark: - If I install Step7 I am able to select "TCP/IP -> S7ONLINE" - If I install Simatic NET without Step7 I can only select "TCP/IP -> VMware Accelerated AMD......." Both are working now... maybe the network was an issue eventhough computer and PLC where on the same subnet/IP range.

markiii Posts: 33 Rating: (0)	What do you install when you setup a development VM for WinCC 7 (without options) ? - Operating system (i.e. XP) - Step7 - WinCC 7 with OR without Simatic NET -since it is included in Step7 ?

Check your TCP/IP "system parameters", you have to select the right network card here. In "Connection Properties" you have to be sure to insert CPU rack & slot (not CP, often guys insert wrong data here). In attachment 2 bmp Regards Attachment WinCC 7 with VM.zip (393 Downloads)

gorje Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hi, I work with IsabelS, and what I can say is that we have installed only Wincc7 and Simatic NET over a client machine, and it communicates, but the server has S7, so we are not sure that without S7 works. It should work, but 100%, I can not ensure. It has sense, that only you need what it's in Wincc DVD, that is Wincc, SQL,,,,and Simatic NET. We thought nobody should need S7, if you only need and buy Wincc

If you have "Step7" or bought "CP1613" also coming with "Simatic Net CD" remeber to use ONLY "Simatic Net" supplied with WinCC installation: sometimes you receive different version of Simatic Net and you have to use what WinCC need Regards

Just check in the WinCC that the system parameters for your connection is set to the VM TCP/IP driver or VM ISO driver (whaterver you are using)
