WinCC Basic V13 SP1 – Simple Sample: Screen change via controller

“Simple Samples” are small projects that demonstrate simple features. The target is give a quick overview about the theme and be used as start point for related discussions. Follow there are a short description and the configuration main steps.

Description:

Many applications demands that the controller select (change) the HMI operation screen.

In this simple sample are showed two methods: by function set to controller tag change event and by job mailbox.

Requirements:

WinCC Advanced V13 SP1.

Project with a minimum configuration (stop button, tags, etc. See references “WinCC Advanced V13 SP1 – Simple Sample: stop run-time application” ).

Configuration main steps:

• Create a project.

• Create two screens (Rootscreen and Screen_0: Project tree → HMI → Screens → Add new screen)

  • Note that each screen has a reference number (properties → general → number).

by function set to controller tag change event

• Create a reference tag (“ScreenNumber”, integer - e.g. create it in the PLC tag table and drag & drop it to HMI – set as properties → Settings → Acquisition mode = Cyclic continuous).

• Create a reference tag (“Trigger”, bool - e.g. create it in the PLC tag table and drag & drop it to HMI – set as properties → Settings → Acquisition mode = Cyclic continuous).

• Configure “Trigger” tag: Properties → Events → Value change = Activate screen by number; ScreenNumber = “ScreenNumber” tag).

• In PLC:

  • Set a value to “ScreenNumber” corresponding to the desired screen

  • Change the value of “Trigger” (invert it).

  • Note: in the simple sample project the settings are done by HMI button.

by job mailbox

• Create a connection (e.g. by drag & drop a PLC tag to HMI).

• Set the connection properties (project tree, HMI, select the “folder” “Connections”, select the PLC connection → intermediate area → area pointers → line Job Mailbox : active = set, access mode = < absolute address>, Address = first of a PLC continuous 4 words area.

• In the PLC:

  • Set the second word as desired screen number

  • Set the first word as constant 51

  • Note: in the simple sample project the settings are done by HMI button.
