WinCC Comfort V13 SP1 – Simple Sample: Tag multiplexing

Simple Samples” are small projects that demonstrate simple features. The target is give a quick overview about the theme and be used as start point for related discussions. Follow there are a short description and the configuration main steps.

Description:

Many applications demands that some screens objects (IO field, Symbolic IO field, etc.) represents alternately different field objects.

The Tag multiplexing feature permits that a internal tag represents the process values of other tags in accordance of a reference (index). It is a easy to use feature, can be used with display elements and in IO fields (to input data, inclusive), but it could not be used to set values on the tag by internal functions / scripts (e.g. buttons command).

Requirements:

WinCC Comfort V13 SP1.

Project with a minimum configuration (stop button, tags, etc.).

Configuration main steps:

• Create tags in the HMI that represents the desire values (e.g. by drag &drop from PLC tags) – in our example, HMI_Tag_1, HMI_Tag_2, HMI_Tag_3.

• Create a internal tag on HMI, that represents the index - in our example, HMI_Tag_5 as Uint.

• Create a internal tag on HMI, that represents alternately the process tags (in our example, HMI_Tag_1, HMI_Tag_2, HMI_Tag_3) – in our example, HMI_Tag_4.

• Set the properties of HMI_Tag_4 → Multiplexing: Index tag = HMI_Tag_5, index 0 = HMI_Tag_1, index 1 = HMI_Tag_2, index 2 = HMI_Tag_3.

• Use HMI_Tag_4 in the project instead of HMI_Tag_1, HMI_Tag_2, HMI_Tag_3.

• Load a value to HMI_Tag_5 according with the HMI_Tag_4 representation desire (HMI_Tag_4 = 0 to HMI_Tag_4 represents HMI_Tag_1, HMI_Tag_4 = 1 to HMI_Tag_4 represents HMI_Tag_2, HMI_Tag_4 = 2 to HMI_Tag_4 represents HMI_Tag_3).
