WinCC Database/Alarm Logging

This problem concerns the WinCC Database. First of all, I'm using a WinCC 6.0 Asia SP3 HF2. We are using some queries to take information from WinCC Database. We are taking these informations (energy values) from the table TagUncompressed, so we are not breaking any license. We save the energy information every hour. We take these informations and show it on a report. Peace of cake. When we start the system, every hour the values grow a little if the breakers are closed. This is the expected behavior. But, after some time (I don't know how much time), the values on the database stop to be change. So, hour after hour, the values saved on the database are the same. After some time, all the values change (at the same time) and, for more hours and hours (maybe days), the valuesare the same again. And it goes in this way for lots of time,long sequences of the same data. On the Report, as we show the energy variation for every hour, we see a lot of zeros and, from time to time, some big value (it appears to be the energy consumed in each bay for the time the values are the same). You can see an example of data on the attached file. It shows one of the energy values during 15 days. I've restarted my controller and the values saved on the database were still the same. I started WinCC and the values saved changed every hour a little bit, as it should be. So, I think the problem is on WinCC. Has someone ever seen this kind of behavior? It works now but you will be in a lot of trouble if your customer is ever audited ! Regarding your problem, can you supply the following information: - What Acquisition Type are you using - Cyclic-Continuous, Acyclic, etc. - Have you configured a hysteresis (deadband)on the archive tag? - What are you logging - Actual Value, Average, Action, etc. - Forgive my ignorance but is the tag value changing? So can you see this on an IOField?

So, I hope I'm not breaking any rule (?). About the problem: - I’m using a Cyclic-Continuous Acquisition type (every hour); - No dead band; - Actual Value; - Yes, if we use an IOField, it’s possible to see the value changing (the value changes every minute). It’s not happening just in one project. It’s happening in all the projects we made, even the projects that don’t have reports (our Delphi software).

But I've checked some SQL database (TagUncompressed) and, even in the projects I don't have the Report System, this behavior is happening. I think I'll create a platform here in Siemens and connect some analog values to see what happens. It takes about 12 days to block the values, but I'll do it anyway. Thanks for your help! Zerbati

If you usein Tag Logging archive tags ".Value" (maybefor other kind of tags too)they must be marked for transmission to WinCC from automation system. Please read rules of transmission inWinCC Help. This is done if the tags are somewhere used in currently displayed picture, if not, they are not registered for transmission and stay unchanged in WinCC ! When you check current valueby opening a picture on which the value is present,you mark it for transmission and get itright as it really is. But if you check it by looking in WinCC Manager (in Runtime put a cursor on that tag) you get last transmitted value, and if that tag is not present in actually opened picture the valueDO NOTcorrespond tothe value in automation system. To solve it I had to put needed tags (used in I/O fields) in an invisible part of a main picture which is always displayed (in my project hidden behind Logo). The same you must take into consideration when using the tags as triggers for scripts - if they are not marked for transmission in WinCC, the scripts will not be triggered ! Hope it will help.

Unless I am not understanding you correctly, this does not seem right. I have several screens with trend graphs, each containing multipe tags. On project start, all machines load the same picture and none of these trends are visible (in other words, no screen is requesting these tags). However, as soon as I switch to one of these pictures on any client, the trend graph loads the correct values, even for the duration the picture was not visible anywhere. Plus I use several acyclical global scripts, triggered by tag changes and these scripts execute fine. The tags used as the triggers are not used anywhere except in a status screen that is normally not visible on any client.

However your finding are interesting. Can you tell us what device you are talking to and what channel driver you are using?
