WInCC Flex Error

Davie Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	I have just installed the WinCC flex 200 SP1 software to trial the new HMIs. Integration into Step 7 is important as we have alarge installed base of systems. I utilised an existing porject with 4 PLCs but on seting up the comms to ethernet and then attempting to create a new tag I drill down on the symbols name into the db folder but find that only 3 of the five PLCs give me options of symbolic names. Additionally on looking at the output view I find that there is a background synchronisation going on but it doesn't help. Also I get the error message ' The symbol server has encountered a problem on "Connect To:". Please save your changes , close WinCC flexible and open your project again.' This doesn't help. Any ideas?

Davie Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Yes I have tried the rebuild option in WinCC flex but no joy. Every time I get to the DB folder I even get the names of the blocks contained within but no symbolic names within the data blocks are shown. Again its only two out of the five PLCs that have this problem. Another question how long should sychronising symbols take?

This then gives you some options to try e.g. if the address and data type match. If the project has been integrated successfully then this should work.

Davie Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Tried this too. I have left the reconnect running for twenty minutes plus. It seems to take an age. But it doesn't help. I have now installed wincc flex on two machines and they both give the same issue.

Davie Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	It was to start with but it seemed so slow during a synchronisation that I decided to make a backup copy on the local hard drive to see if this was the issue, but no success. No looking at settings in the PLC projects but doesn't seem to be anything there.

skimmer Bronze Member Joined: 9/5/2007 Last visit: 9/21/2022 Posts: 317 Rating: (17)	The network function isn't currently supported so it's possible that there may have been some corruption of the database when you started. Id start again on the local machine and add one HMI at a time in Netpro. Once the connection is setup in Netpro and selected in WinCC Flexible you should be able to drill down to the db.
