WinCC Flexible unstability on ethernet...

riker Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hi all... We are having a S7-300 controller with CP 343-1 module for ethernet, connected to 2 HMI PC running on WinCC Flexible 2004. Both HMI stations are running different processes. The CP343-1 connected to the uplink port of a network switch and the 2 HMI stations connected on the other ports... Our problem is that, we have frequent connection loss on either of the HMI stations. All fields were displaying "###". Even at this state, we can still "PING" any of the stations. We observed that sometimes, PC-PG interface for the HMI station shifts to "PC INTERNAL/LOCAL" instead of the configured "ETHERNET" adapter. When we try to shift back the interface to "ETHERNET", we could sometimes restore the communication, but later on losses again. Our only extreme solution is that we have to reset the S7-300 to restore communication... Help, anyone!!! Thanks...

Since you operate twoWinCC flex stations on one PLC make sure to untick "cyclic operation"in theconnection setup of bothflex projects (which can be onecause for your sporadic comms failures). Below is theexcerptfrom the WinCC flex online help concerning this: When cyclic operation is enabled, the PLC optimizes its data exchange with the HMI device. This increases system performance. Disable cyclic mode if you are operating several HMI devices in parallel. I hope this helps.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello Charlie, I would just like to add the point to check how many resources have been prepared for HMI Communication at all. As you have two HMI trying to poll data form the PLC you should have 2 resources reserved for the HMI functions alone. So you may only have one resource left for other uses. I think this would be the safest way to ensure that the resources are really available. About the connections themselves I guess, as you are able to connect at least once that these should be OK. Sadly the WinCC flexible 2004 version is rather old. I am not sure if a newer version would fix the issue but maybe a check if you have cyclic variables is quite useful. Maybe the traffic created by this continuescyclic usemay overload theinterface used. So this would have to be prevented. Maybe I could offer you some hint. Best regards J_Bell
