Gents, I have a weird problem that I wanted to run across the community here. I am away building another project and one of our production facilities had an issue where the ktp700 wasn't booting the project and simply powers up like it is waiting. I had my secondary programmer put online and jumped in via TeamViewer since my vpn doesn't attach to this particular piece of equipment and here is what I found.

1. This project is TIA V13 and I am fully up to date. The project is from 2016 and does not get updated due to making sure the OEM is able to access in cases like this as well.

2. The HMI will boot, but I do not see the familiar screen that coincides with the autoboot function, even though it is turned on. The box gives you a quick shot to hit the settings, you can click start (although it will in a second or two anyway) but this never comes up. I am assuming that the HMI and 1200 cpu are never actually seeing each other.

3. Through TIA and my remote pc, I had the maintenance fellow plug me into the Siemens 1277 unmanaged four port switch for the connection. There was something funny there as I was getting intermittent connection issues, but we found that the cable he grabbed for my connection had something stupid going on. New cable, I can go online and I am green on both devices.

4. The CPU itself is still running even though the HMI gives them no access, but they can only use it as it was before of course and that is not what they need. So, the CPU is operational and that function is then not a question.

So with that, they also had a new replacement screen in spares that we could try. I had them plug it up on the side and I tried to reload the program on the new HMI. TIA tried to downgrade the firmware but something happened and it would not finish. The maintenance fellow walked up and clicked through the error screen  so I did not see the whole thing before it disappeared. For sure it didn't like the firmware downgrade but the HMI booted back up again to the same position as the old one. I could not tell whether or not the load went through or simply failed. Seems likely to me that the program on the HMI is gone but I do not remember everything on what the HMI reports when comparing.

Should the HMI program be comparing that each individual screen is present and compared or does it just give you the green check mark that it sees a HMI at all? When they both boot, you have the transfer, start and settings buttons on the left and the start button is blue, non usable. That tells me there is nothing to boot. Settings show autoboot is checked, for some reason the project ip address was not in, even though the original HMI has been in for years. I described what happened to the spare screen, if the project never loaded correct it would explain why it boots to the same position with no connection to the CPU.

I am trying to not kill the CPU before one from my group can get back and deal with this in person as they can still operate somewhat with the function that does still work.
