you can use two ways:

-> Textref -> you can use an internal tag with the format textref-> here you can enter a link to the text in the project texts this works similar than with textereference tags in WinCC V7

-> Workaround with textlist: you can create a textlist with your texts (also multilingual) then use the systemfunction "LookupText" in your script to read out the definied text and language (for example the current runtime UCID)

It works both (I used both already)

I'm currenty working with Wincc Pro V18 and the LookupText is not working. If I try it in WinCC advanced it works. Can you give me your example code in professional so I can find the difference and solve the problem. Many thanks.

If you are trying to display some messages in runtime you could use HMI Alarms -> User alarms and trigger them from within your scripts.

The function LookupText should be used te get the String declared in a textlist. In my expample i use this code:

The "TLCommentCM" is a text list with a lot of comments for controle modules.

For example the operator wants to know a comment of a controle module, with a click event on that control module i want to show the comment with use of a index number referring to a text in a textlist.

I want to use a text list because it's multilanguage. When we change the language in runtime it needs to be automatically translated.

The strange thing is that the code works with WinCC Advanced but not with WinCC Professional in V18.

The Function LookupText in WinCC Professional works only with HMI tags.

So for the Output and the index you have to use WinCC Tags from Tag Management. you cannot use script internal tags for this.

If you need help for choosing the parameter, just press ctrl+j to open the dialog for choosing Tag, Textlist and Language
