Hi All,

I am struggliing with downloading project from engineering station to Operator Station.

- Both PC installed V17 Up6

- Both PC can ping each other

- ES can ping OS by name

- Both PC can see each other in Simatic shell

However when I press download the Path is always red. I cannot see the OS in network in my ES.

Is it neccessary the both PC to be same domain?

Am I missing some setting?

I am not in the same domain and I cannot be in same domain. I do not belive it is possible for me as my ES is corporate admin supervised.

Just found this information too, that applies to both WinCC V7 and WinCC Professional:

"Using WinCC in multiple domains

The correct functioning of WinCC can only be guaranteed when all the computers in a multi-user system are located in a common domain or working group. When WinCC is used in different domains or working groups, complications may arise if the access rights and/or name utility are configured incorrectly.

When the user administration is realized in a working group, all the WinCC users must be set up on all the computers in the multi-user system and have the necessary access authorization.".

You can find a similar description also here:

I just wanted to save some time with the online download as it gives the option for delta downloads.

As a workaround I used virtual machine.

If you cannot do an online download then you can also do a offline download with the download to filesystem function in TIA Portal.x
