Dear experts,

my system contains S7-1500 and WinCC RT Professional. TIA Portal version is V14 SP1 Update 2. WinCC RT Pro is configured for multiple monitors, following the guideline given in the FAQ entry:

I also have a toolbar with one button configured to call login dialog popup window. 

So, as far as I can see, when I start runtime WinCC creates three separate threads in the taskbar:

1. Generic blank  WinCC window;

2. Screen window for screen 1;

3. Screen window for screen 2.

The problem arises when I click on the toolbar button to call login dialog. In that case WinCC puts focus on the blank screen (Generic WinCC blank window) and displays login popup window. Now, if I input correct username and password WinCC automatically restores screen windows for screen 1 and screen 2. But, if I input wrong credentials, WinCC informs me about unknown username/password and focus remains on the blank screen. The only way to restore my screen windows is to use Alt+Tab. But, if keyboard shortcuts are disabled, I am stuck on the blank screen.

Any ideas how to overcome this annoying issue?

Solution:

1. WinCC Runtime Settings -> General

2. Find section "Independent screen windows"

3. Check mark "Hide main window"

4. Recompile project and restart runitme
