Duncan Posts: 22 Rating: (1)	Hi Friends, I am facing a problem with wincc.Whenever I try to put the wincc into runtime it fails to go to runtime and gives a error saying "CCWriteArchiveServer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". Could anyone pls guide to solve this problem? It would be of a great help. Thanks in Advance.. Duncan.

Salma Gold Member Joined: 9/27/2005 Last visit: 11/27/2007 Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	What version of WinCC and Windows are you using ? If you have SP3 then you need to have hotfix 2 installed. It fixed a problem like the one you describe. The hotfix can be downloaded from this link : http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/21480479 If this is not relevant then have you tried deleting the runtime data, if this is feasible ? Sometimes a corrupt alarm or tag logging database can stop runtime activating.

Duncan Posts: 22 Rating: (1)	Thanks Salma,for your reply. The thing is if I create a new project then it works and going to run time without any problem.The problem occurs with that particular project.Is there any way to get it solve? I am using wincc v6.0 and windows xp sp2.

Otherwise, the compatibility also can cause such problems and incompatible system do increase the risk of your system. BR.

The only times I see corrupt runtime databases is if either a) the computer crashes repeatedly while WinCC is running; or b) incompatible versions are being used; or c) the user has manually tried editing the values !! Also worth mentioning that incompatibilites do cause these odd problems where it works for a while and then stops working, sometimes for no apparent reason whatsoever! I don't consider this a problem or a bug - it's like putting diesel in a car that needs unleaded petrol, it's not going to work but you can't blame the car [:P] You can delete your runtime databases by opening the alarm and tag logging editors, selelcting Archive Manager, right-clicking on the right-hand side icons and selecting Reset from the context-specific menu. Be aware that this will delete ALL your alarm and trend history and not just any faulty ones. However if you don't have compatible versions then the problem could just occur again and again! I strongly recommend you upgrade your WinCC to suit your Windows version.

dugme Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Hallo, I am using PCS7 6.1 and WinCC version is 6.0 SP3. I have same problem like Duncan. Also Hotfix may not be used with PCS7. I didn't understand last Salmas massage. Where I can find this alarm and tag logging editors, selelcting Archive Manager in WinCC or somewere else???[:cry:]
