I have a pc with a wincc flexible 2008 project and it is conected to a S7-300 PLC . I communicate with the PLC via MPI ( IBH ) and everything works just fine untill because of power loose , or problems in the network the communication between wincc runtime and the plc is lost.And after the power comes back up it doesn't reconnect automaticly wich is a big problem.

Normaly for the other type of PLC connected directly to ethernet when we have the same problem, the connection reestablishes when i have connection again automaticly.

Evan if i use the IBH adapter to comunicate with my network i don't think that this is the problem, because for example i also am comunicating at the same time with KEPSERVER on this PLC, and when the connection goes back on , kepserver reestablish the connection . SO i think there must be something to be done direcly from WINCC setings.

First of all chic WinCC flexible Version do you use? (SP and Updates)

Which Operating System do you use on the HMI PC?

-> I would reccomend a CP5711 for communication or a buildt in CP as PCI Card.

but therefore I see problem in SW, simply Kepserver probably use internal mechanism to check lost comm and reestablish/refresh it. In my previous experience in this are (generally but with some driver type), I must everytime check this and reestablish it. Only my opinion, simply as Murof sugested or you also, some settings maybe exists on WinCC cfg.

First of all I would try to use UPdate 7 for WinCC Flexible 2008 SP3 on Engineering system and Runtime System.

There are years of improvement into the Updates. Perhaps it has an effect on your Problems.

I tried installing the update 7 pack but nothing happend about my problem.

Anyway i found the solution.

When you create tags, with the plc connection you have the property : Aquisition mode : Cyclic continuous with Aquisition cycle : 500 ms . If you set it like this it will reconnect automaticly after a reestablished connection . 

Mine was set on cyclic on use and got stuck like that.
