Wincc , S7 connection using TCP/IP

amro Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Sir, i am using Wincc V6.2, and myS7 system is CPU319 3PN/DP, i need to set the connction between the Wincc and S7 system using TCP/IP, the problem , that i have CP1613 in the wincc PC, so is it applicable for this purpose. if it is not , can i use the normal network card inside the PC for this case. and what is the required setting for this case.

markiii Posts: 33 Rating: (0)	amro, I am new to WinCC and using the standard TCP card of my computer, no extra hardware. If you are already using the Simatic S7 Protocol Suite, just make a new connection with the TCP. Check here for some help about the settings.

Of course the CP1613 is better way. But you must install the SimaticNET for Ethernet communication. Best regards Jaromir Hladik

I used CP1613 to comunicate with plc 300 series with CP 343-1 Lean (only with IP address): just configure WinCC to use TCP/IP connection and select CP1613RFC protocol (i hope i write exact because i'm not on my PC right now). Should be works PS: you need CP1613 for more than 8 connection (CP1613 is for high performance) Regards

amro Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	All thank you all for your tips it's very helpful, i made a direct connction between the CPU319 3PN/DP and the CP1613, but i found the transmission rate is very slow. so what do you think in this issue.

Do you have any measurements or transfer rates you may provide? I do not know your site but have you tried the already mentioned way with the Ethernet NIC yet? If so... did you notice big changes? The issue with collecting data from a PLC is mostly the same. If you spread the data wide across the PLC the system has its difficulties to pick each single information one by one, this takes a lot of time. It is much better for the performance to put all requested data within the same data area. This improves the data transfer because larger amounts of data may be collected in one row. This would also be an example how an OPC Server may collect the data. It usually takes stuff located side by side together... so you only have one call... not one call for each object. This saves a lot of time. Maybe this is already a cause for your situation. Best regards J_Bell
